The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian was written by Sherman Alexie and follows Junior, a Native-American teenager who decides that he wants to step up his education and go to an all white school. The book follows his story, detailing Junior's interactions with the other students and his journey to create a better life for himself. Based off of the author's own childhood experiences, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is a great realistic fiction novel about the struggles of Native-American children in modern society. I originally had to read this for my school's summer reading homework, but as soon as I started it I fell into the story. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian has a really enjoyable plot, and great, in depth characters to help move it along. The book is only about 250 pages, so is a nice short read for someone who doesn't like to sit down for hours just to get through half of a book. I recommend that you read this, because it has a really good story, and doesn't take a long time to get through.

Yet another review that succeeded in capturing and sharing the essence of what this novel is all about. It sounds like its a perfect novel for middle school or early high school students; a novel with a theme about Native Americans and the difficulties they have had and continue to have in this country.
