Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is an amazing novel that employs a brilliant use of photos to build a vivid story in your mind. Written by Ransom Riggs, Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children paints a detailed picture about a world where peculiars (humans with superhuman abilities) are forced to live in secret, hidden away from the rest of the civilized world in spots of frozen time. Left clues by his late grandfather, Jacob travels to Wales and discovers a group of peculiar children. The group is attacked, and subsequently forced to flee through England. Pursued at every corner, the peculiars lead an adventure, using their unique abilities to survive. Possibly one of the most interesting parts of this book is that throughout the story, Ransom Riggs provides old black and white photos of the "peculiars". These photos are especially interesting because they are all real; created through camera mistakes and tricks of lighting. Riggs has stated that he travels to flea markets, and specifically searches for strange photos he can incorporate into his stories. This novel is extremely interesting, well written, and full of in depth lore. I strongly recommend this book (and the entire series) for anyone who loves to read.

Max, I have said this before but it bears repeating, your reviews of books are excellent. They are well written and you share just enough detail to entice a prospective reader to add the book to her or his reading list. Your review of Rigg's novel is particularly well done, eloquently written and highly effective. I will add this to my list to books to read. Thank you!
