Storm Front, by Jim Butcher, is a fantasy detective novel about Harry Dresden, a wizard. It's his job to investigate any unnatural and demonic cases found by the Chicago P.D., while at the same time making sure that said cases don't affect normal civilians. When the police department discovers a strange murder scene, they know that the only man for the case is Harry. Throughout the novel, Harry encounters gangs, monsters, demons, and dark magic. This book is action packed and interesting, with a compelling crime mystery to keep the reader hooked in the entire time. I strongly recommend this book, but it is not for the easily disgusted, as there are murder and crime scenes described in excruciating detail. Storm Front is a compelling detective novel with magic and fantasy interwoven in, but without anything seeming awkward and out of place. It is a great book with an interesting story that I would recommend to anybody interested.

If you like the Dresden files and the Urban Fantasy genre you might want to try: Simon Greene's "Nightside Series" It's also stories about a private detective, but set in London. The main character is John Taylor who has a magical knack for finding things that gets him jobs and loads of trouble. "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman is fabulous! No detectives, but mystery galore and fantastic characters. Also set in London. I highly…
